DOCUMENTARY ON PBS

From WPA artists to world-renowned
potters, the Scheiers career as portrayed
in Four Hands One Heart has been
called a "love story in clay."
FOUR HANDS ONE HEART: ED AND MARY SCHEIER is the story of America's "first couple of studio pottery" — the Scheiers. This acclaimed half-hour documentary, is being released through American Public Television, the second largest supplier of programming to PBS stations. The show began as an effort to archive on film a major figure in American studio pottery at work, prior to his retirement from clay. The project picked up institutional underwriting and was offered to PBS programmers by APT. The response has been one of the most positive in APT history, with the show achieving nationwide PBS carriage. Released on Oct 14, 2001, it has also picked up a 2001 Telly finalist award for best documentary. Now available as a "collectors" home video, it was called a "touching and well-made portrait" by American Craft Magazine (Winter 2002).

SCHOOL MEDIA
THE PARENT CONNECTION is a video orientation produced by KBP for the NYC Board of Education's Office of English Language Learners. Mandated by and featuring school Chancellor Harold Levy, the video has been adapted by the tri-lingual producer/director, into eight different language versions — Spanish, Russian, Haitian-Creole, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Urdu, and Bengali! Dr. Edna Vega, Superintendent of the Office of English Language Learners for the NYC Board of Education, had this to say about Browne's work:

"You have demonstrated strong leadership, diligence, flexibility, and cheerfulness in this very difficult and challenging project. Moreover, in a very short time frame you assisted us to meet the urgency of the moment...Your expertise in the area of producing quality videos was clearly demonstrated in the nine videos"
In 2002, the NYC schools awarded the firm a major contract to produce professional training videos for cutting edge curriculum tools for dual language learning and native language assessment.

In addition, KBP produced MAKING IT WORK FOR ELLS, a professional development video for the Education Alliance at Brown University, on the culture and practice of bi-lingual education in NYC. This video was recently featured at the 2002 TESOL conference in Salt Lake City attended by 25,000 educators.

CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
The Stanbee company of NJ — one of the largest suppliers of shoe components, selected KBP for a major video presentation to its largets customer, Nike, on Stanbee's innovative recycling and environmental program. Stanbee president, Michael Berkson, commented:

"I could not have asked for a better result then what was accomplished... Not only did our short video presentation illustrate all the steps involved in this process, but it also got the message across in a more captivating way with some hype that helped keep our audience focussed throughout this presentation. The bottom line is that this was done in a professional, time efficient and cost effective way thanks to Ken Browne Productions."
